Case study 12: improving condition in a stressy horse
Kate Foot and Rana
Kate Foot from Reading in Berkshire decided to try WINERGY Equilibrium Condition with her mare Rana because she was struggling to keep weight on over winter and traditional feeds were making her fizzy.
Kate says:
"Rana is a 29 year old mostly TB, ex polo pony. She is your stereotypical chestnut mare - stressy, prone to temper tantrums, and very flighty. We've always struggled with her weight over the winter - normal conditioning feeds "hot her up", she has an intolerance to sugar beet, she chokes on unsoaked cubes but refuses to eat soaked cubes, and is incredibly fussy!
So it was with interest I read about WINERGY Equilibrium Condition. Rana weighed 489kg on the weigh tape in December 2009, and I was questioning my decision to put her through another winter. I picked up my first bag of WINERGY Equilibrium Condition on 31st December, introduced it slowly, and gradually brought her up to 2kg per day, fed with ad lib hay.
I weigh taped her on 6th June at 565kg. Admittedly the improving grass is playing a part, but she went from 489kg to 525kg before the grass even came through. She has put on weight, but remained calm. She eats it happily and isn't bored of it. Her coat is so shiny she gleams in the dark. She doesn't look or act her age at all! She is the picture of health, and while I would love to see some more topline on her, she is well covered and has developed a bit of a belly. She may well be on a diet soon! Thank you for making such a great product."
